Senate Goes Into Close-Door As Ministerial Nominee Collapses

The Senate has gone into an emergency closed-door session after Balarabe Abbas Lawal, the ministerial nominee from Kaduna, slumped during his screening.

Balarabe was nominated by President Bola Tinubu to replace Malam Nasir el-Rufa’i, former Kaduna State governor. Balarabe collapsed shortly after introducing himself to the senators.

He is a former secretary to the Kaduna State Government during El-Rufai’s tenure.

Senate president Godswill Akpabio was heard shoutig ‘give him water and sugar’ when he collapsed.
