A truck loaded with stolen crude oil concealed in jerrycans was Thursday impounded by the operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Enugu State Command.

The state commandant of the corps, Mr Mohammed Dada, disclosed this while briefing the press.

According to him, “On the night of the 25th of October 2023, at exactly 0100 hours, the office of the Anti-Vandal Team of the command received credible intel regarding the movement of vandalised oil in an unregistered MAN Truck from lokpanta, Abia State.

“Responding swiftly to this intel, the NSCDC Anti-Vandal Team immediately swung into action. Our men engaged the unregistered truck in an attempt to halt its progress, but was resisted by the vandals which resulted in one casualty on the part of the oil thieves while others abandoned the truck and fled.”

Dada said the team recovered the truck and its illicit cargo, consisting of eight drums and 60 jerricans filled with stolen crude oil concealed in jerricans.

He added, “The swift and effective response of the NSCDC Anti-Vandal Team played a vital role in thwarting this illegal activity, recovering stolen property, and ensuring that justice is served.”
