Prof Godwin Emezue, deputy vice chancellor, Academics, Abia State University, has been abducted by kidnappers.
It was gathered that the scholar was abducted by a gang of three, who swooped on him at the fuel station.
He was dragged into his abductors’ Lexus SUV, a source said, adding that his wife’s ATM card was also collected from his car by the kidnappers before zooming off.
The incident happened on Friday at Umuekwule, Amachara in Umuahia South LGA at around 7pm.
His wife, who witnessed the incident, said the gunmen dragged him into their car and drove away towards the Imo-Abia border.
A source from Abia State University also confirmed the abduction in a viral message.
According to the message, “Dear Colleagues, greetings to you. Sad to inform you that Prof G.I. N. Emezue, DVC (Academic), has been kidnapped this evening at his Ezeleke Umuopara Umuahia. We pray for his safety while waiting for their contact as none has come for now.”
