Imo Pipeline Explosion: Lawmaker Condemns Vandals

By Adadareporters

A member of the House of Representatives from Imo State, Chief Eugene Dibiagwu, has condemned the activities of oil pipeline vandals who caused the recent oil pipeline explosion at Obitti community of Ohaji-Egbema local government area of the state.

Recall that the pipeline explosion, which occurred last week, claimed the lives of about five persons and destroyed property worth millions of naira.

The lawmaker stated this when he visited the scene. He attributed the inferno to the activities of crude oil vandals ‘who have continued to sabotage the nation’s economy’.

He regretted that innocent persons lost their lives and farmlands destroyed when the fire which also razed a tanker used in bunkering gutted the area.

Dibiagwu appealed to the National Emergency Management Agency and other relevant institutions to come to the aid of the community to avert imminent hunger and outbreak of diseases.

Chief Dibiagwu represents Ohaji-Egbema, Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency.

He expressed optimism that the Petroleum Industry Act, which has given more stake to oil-bearing communities, would help to check the activities of pipeline vandals ‘as the communities are now co-owners of oil facilities’.
