The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), weekend, condemned the alleged murder of some villagers of Ogbaru in Anambra State by the Nigerian Army.
Mr Emma Powerful, the Head of Media and Publicity of IPOB, described the act as “the lowest of the lowest”, adding that “The Nigerian Army has degenerated into a bunch of terrorists in army uniform”.
Powerful stated that, “The Nigerian military invaded some communities in Ogbaru, burnt down some houses, murdered and burnt the bodies of some innocent, peaceful civilians without provocation. This is a classic modus operandi of terror groups.
The Biafran agitation group therefore called for an investigation into the act. The statement read, “The barbaric murder and burning of the lifeless bodies of innocent Ogbaru people by the Nigerian Army must be investigated, and those within the Nigerian military that carried out the dastardly act brought to justice.”
The group also called for a referendum to allow Biafrans to exit Nigeria, maintaining that, “The earlier that the Nigerian government organised a referendum for Biafrans to exit Nigeria in peace, the better, in order to avoid the repeat of the past.”
IPOB is founded by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to agitate for the severing of Southeast from Nigeria’s federation. Kanu faces terrorism-related charges at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
