Hon Chijioke Edeoga, Thursday, won the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 general elections in Enugu State.
Edeoga, a former member of the House of Representatives, scored 81 votes to emerge the winner in a delegate election supervised by the national body of the party.
Edeoga served as commissioner for local government matters, as well as that of environment in the regime of incumbent Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
He contested the governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party and lost to Barr Peter Mba.
Edeoga said after the election that his emergence had put paid to ‘long speculations of the authentic guber candidate of the Labour Party in Enugu State’.
He pledged to take the party to victory in the 2023 governorship election in the state.
A political analyst, Osmond Odo, said, “I advise our politicians to play politics with bitterness. Let them market themselves using people-oriented manifestoes.
“Let votes count this time around. Electorate should endeavour to show their strength by voting the best candidates.”
