By Adadareporters

The branch of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital (AE-FETHA), Ebonyi State, Tuesday, called for justice over their slain colleague.

Our correspondent gathered in Abakaliki that a member of the body was killed in Abakaliki Local Government Area of the state by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.

The association made their demand during a protest in Abakaliki. They displayed placards with inscriptions like: ‘We want police to investigate and apprehend the culprit’, ‘We demand thorough investigation: Death of Casmir Ani is one death too many’, and ‘the scientist’s life matters’. Clement Alubo, the group’s chairman, told the police at the state police command to adopt proactive measures to ensure safety of lives and property in the state.

He said, “Ani is only 40 years old with a wife and three kids. How are those he left behind going to survive? The police must fish out the perpetrators. “Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner of police in the state, Mr Clement Robert, said, “I assure you that the culprits must be brought to book.”
