2023: How ‘Obidients’ May Mar Peter Obi’s Chances

By Adadainfo

Some people claiming to be supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, in the 2023 presidential election may destroy his chances eventually.

A commentator on national issues, Barr Ikechukwu Ezeani, stated this in an interview with our correspondent at Nsude, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State on Friday.

Ezeani said he is a supporter of Obi, but expressed doubts on the sincerity of some of those calling themselves ‘Obidients’.

In his words, “Some of them fail to learn from Obi’s political principles. Peter Obi does not attack. He discusses issues, and not persons. He moves without noise.

“But his supporters are turning militants. When you encounter some of them physically, they tend to be physical, aggressive and intimidating. Such approach portends danger. I expect Obi to openly call them to order, otherwise he will be pitched against other political, religious and tribal interests.

“Specifically, northerners are not amenable to tolerance. If a northerner who is not a Labour Party faithful is attacked, the reprisal might go out of hand.”

Ernest Ozioko, a trader, said, “Even some participants in some of the one-million-man-match for Obi are moles. They wear anti-Obi shirts. They look for slight provocations to respond or attack in the name of Peter Obi.

“That means they are agents of destruction. I advise Obi to have a strategic group to understudy all these emerging issues ahead of the polls to avoid destruction from within. The people being his structure in an unrefined society like ours makes him vulnerable.”

Recall that an opinion conducted by NOI Poll stated Thursday that if the presidential election were to be conducted this month, that Mr Peter Obi would win.
