Former Governor of Ekiti State Ayodele Fayose says the presidential candidate of the Labour Prty, Mr Peter Obi, is a cancer to his party, PDP.

Fayose spoke during a political programme of the Channels TV on Thursday night. Fayose also made a tacit support for Sen Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 general elections. He said despite being a PDP chieftain, he always supported power shift to the South.

Echoing his words, “I am a Peoples Democratic Party member. We can’t survive when we hide the truth. Peter Obi is a danger that we should watch out for. I don’t believe that Peter Obi will go this far. Obi is the only cancer to the Peoples Democratic Party.

“In the Southwest, I don’t see how PDP will win. I don’t see how PDP will win in the Southeast. The South-South will be a combination of all the political parties. There is so much to be done in the Northcentral. The Northeast is where you have the candidate of the APC’s running mate.”

On whether he supports his PDP’s Atiku Abubakar or his tribal man, Bola Tinubu, Fayose was not explicit. He said, “I won’t condemn Ahmed Bola Tinubu. I won’t condemn Atiku Abubakar. But I will say that I support power shift to the South. I see reasons with Gov Wike of Rivers State.”

Recall that the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as PDP’s presidential standard-bearer for 2023 presidential election created his discord with Rivers governor Nyesome Wike. Wike, alongside Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Dr Samuel Ortom of Rivers State, and Chief Seyi Makinde of Osun State, are protesting having a northern presidential candidate and a northern national chairman of the PDP.
