The university community of Nsukka in Enugu State has been taken over by refuse, Adadareporters uncovered.

The worst affected areas are Ogige market, Enugu road, Odenigbo, among others.

“This is not the first time it is getting this bad,” Silas, an okada operator, told our reporter. “But it is now getting out of hand. I don’t know whether we still have a local government administration here. ”

A resident of Enugu road, Charles Onah, said, “LGA authorities have been evacuating the refuse. But maybe the contractors are not being settled. For some days, I have not seen them evacuate the refuse. It is making Nsukka very dirty. Maybe the state ministry of environment should assist.”

For Monica Ezeme, “When it rains, you hate Nsukka. The drainages have been blocked. So these refuse heaps stink when it rains. My fear is a possible outbreak of diseases.”
