FG Lifts Suspension On Conditional Cash Transfer

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has given the approval to the removal of suspension placed on National Social Investment Programme Agency and the activities across the federation.

Recall that President Bola Tinibu suspended NSIPA for six weeks, ranging from 12th January to Friday 23 February 2024 , on the ground of alleged misapproration of project funds by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and poverty Alleviation, Beta Edu. An Interministetial Committee, tagged Special Presidential Panel ( SPP), was established to identify operational lapses and improprieties surrounding the programme implementation as well as recommend necessary reforms.

The national project coordinator, National Cash Transfer Office ( NCTO), Dr Michael Ajulu Chukwu, made this disclosure in a statement on Monday.

According to him, this was contained in a communique from the Federal Ministry of Finance to the permanent secretary, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, directing that the suspension of the programme be lifted with immediate effect.

He said in line with the reformation the CCT, officers will continue the implementation of the programme without delay to ensure the completion of President Bola Tinibu mandate to provide poor 15 million Nigerian and vulnerables with N25,000 monthly for three months.
