The sack of Dr Doyin Okupe, DG, Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the Labour Party, was Friday voided by the national arm of the Labour Party.

Recall that Okupe was fired by the Ogun State arm of LP over alleged lack of commitment, financial recklessness, and not being a financial committed member of the party in the state.

Umar Farouk, the national secretary of Labour Party, stated the voiding of Okupe’s expulsion at a news conference. He said the Ogun State chapter of the party acted beyond its limit, adding that the party has methods to resolve conflicts internally.

In his words, “The party has internal conflict resolution mechanisms of handling cases against party members as enshrined in the party’s constitution. Therefore, the suspension of Dr Doyin Okupe from the party by the Ogun State chapter is null and void.

“He still remains a card carrying member of the Labour Party and director-general of the Presidential Campaign Council. The party is solidly united and behind its leadership and the leadership of the Presidential Campaign Council.

“We are also not unaware of attempts by our opposition in some political parties to infiltrate into the party’s structure at all levels since it has become obvious that the chances of the Labour Party’s candidate emerging victorious in the upcoming general election are becoming brighter.”

He said the matter would be resolved amicably.

Okupe was suspended alongside ten others over the same offences.
