One Miracle Onwe has been arrested for allegedly raping a 19-year-old girl at Aboffia village in Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The state police command stated this while parading the suspect at Eke Aba Police Division, Abakaliki.
The state police public relations officer, Mr Chris Anyanwu, said the victim was in her farm when Miracle allegedly pounced on her after which he robbed her of her smartphone.
The PPRO said immediately the girl raised alarm to draw the attention of passers-by, the suspect jumped into a nearby river with the phone.
Mr Anyanwu noted that the river was cordoned off and the suspect fished out. He said the suspect would be charged to court after investigations.
